Want to make money with your pet? I’m Nina Yearsley-Cole, a pet professional with 28 years’ experience in the pet industry. I share honest advice, trusted reviews and real life with my rescue cockapoo, Ellie, and our newly adopted little cat, Kitty.
Two questions reach me again and again. Many of you ask how I started working with my dog and cats, and many new puppy owners tell me they would love a beautiful, comprehensive journal to record their dog’s story. So I wrote a book for each: From Pets to Profit: How to Make Money With Your Pet and Our Puppy’s First Year: A Keepsake Journal for Photos, Paw Prints & Milestones. Here is what each one offers, and which is right for you.
From Pets to Profit: How to make money with your pets

I am regularly asked how I began working with my dog and cats, and whether the same could be possible for others. From Pets to Profit is my answer. Drawing on 28 years in the pet industry, it offers practical, honest guidance for pet lovers, dog owners and anyone considering pet content creation or a pet-related business, with no hype and no unrealistic promises.
This book is for you if you:
- want to make money with your pet, or from your love of pets
- are curious about earning as a pet influencer or content creator
- would like honest, experience-based guidance rather than hype
- are thinking about a pet-related side income or business
The two most important points I share are ‘trust and animal welfare ‘, both of which must always take priority over income. Whether caring for someone’s pet or recommending a brand or service, your reputation depends on being reliable, honest and willing to turn down unsuitable work. If your dog/cat does not want to participate, the work waits.
Secondly, charge for everything the job involves. A short video can take hours to plan, film and edit. A pet visit also involves travel, administration and responsibility. You explain why people must understand their costs, define what they are offering and agree terms in writing.

Our Puppy’s First Year: the keepsake puppy journal

Many puppy owners have told me they wish there were a thorough, beautifully presented journal to capture their dog’s early life. Our Puppy’s First Year is exactly that: a keepsake journal for photos, paw prints and milestones, recording everything from the day your puppy comes home to their first birthday. The first year passes quickly, and this gives you something lasting to treasure.
This journal is for you if you:
- have a new puppy, or are about to bring one home
- want a keepsake to record photos, paw prints and first-year memories
- are looking for a thoughtful gift for a new puppy owner or dog lover
- Would like something to look back on for years to come
The two most important things my puppy journal encourages are keeping track of your puppy’s health and development, and preserving the precious memories of their first year.
